Heavy and thundery rain is in store for Ireland, bringing a risk of spot flooding, as weather will remain “changeable” and “rather unsettled” for the rest of the week, Met Éireann has said.
Today will be cloudy and wet, as heavy rain slowly spreads to the east, which might lead to some spot flooding in the west of the country.
However, the rain will gradually clear from the west by afternoon, leaving some bright and sunny weather mixed with isolated heavy showers.
But it will turn cloudy again in the west by evening, with further rain and drizzle, as temperatures will range between 18 and 23C today.

For those travelling to the North, the UK’s Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for five counties for today.
Antrim, Armagh, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry can expect heavy showers and a few thunderstorms today, which might cause some disruption, especially to travel.
The warning goes into effect at 11am today and expires at 8pm.
Meanwhile, light showers will move to the east tonight, while other parts remain dry and clear, as temperatures drop to 11 and 15C.

Met Éireann forecaster Brandon Creagh said: “It’s looking fairly unsettled over the next few days with low pressure remaining nearby along with thunderstorms developing at times.”
Although tomorrow will have a cloudy start, some sunny spells might improve throughout the day.
The temperatures will range between 18 and 22C, while some scattered showers can also be expected.
It will be mostly dry on Friday night under broken cloud, however some showers are possible, as the southwest will see light rain or drizzle.
Temperatures will drop to 9 and 15 overnight, remaining the coolest across western counties.
Meanwhile, the weekend will start off dry on Saturday morning, bringing a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, as temperatures range between 17 and 21C.
It will be followed by a band of rain slowly spreading from the southwest, turning heavy and possibly thundery at times.
