The Hollywood actor and Minecraft star Jason Momoa has declared a well-loved Irish song his favourite.

The Hawaiian native is currently appearing alongside a star-studded cast in the live-action adaptation of the hugely popular video game, Minecraft.

He was being interviewed by Emma Power on 2FM, when she asked him what was his one song “to listen to for the rest of your life”.

But almost before she had a chance to ask the question, Momoa was ready with a sure-fire answer.

“Pogues – Fairytale of New York”, done, game,” he declared.

Of course this is not the first time Hollywood heartthrob has worn his heart on his sleeve for Ireland.

He had previously co-directed and starred in his very own Guinness ad that was shared on social media last year.

The short clip was posted alongside the caption reading: “Been a fan of Guinness for a long time, now I’m officially a #GuinnessPartner!”

“I’m so proud of what we created together. Enjoy the director’s cut of my newest project. Mahalo and Sláinte everyone!’

The Guinness commercial depicts Momoa discovering that he is 2% Irish.

Promptly spreading the word as fast as he can, he runs around telling everyone old and young, Irish and not Irish, about his newfound heritage.

Produced by Momoa's production company On The Roam the spot also features a cameo appearance from his mother Coni Momoa, who handed the actor his first Guinness when he turned 21.

"I've wanted to direct for Guinness for 12 years now," Momoa said at the time.

"They have, in my opinion, the best commercials in the world. It was fun pitching this idea to them, they loved it; and now, it's turned into a dream job."

Joyce He, Brand Director with Guinness US, said it was "special" to finally work with Momoa.

"For years, he's been a huge fan of ours and of course, we're huge fans of his.

“But this is more than just another partnership: together with Jason, we are starting a new chapter in our iconic story that will bring Guinness to more people, places, and celebrations. I can't wait to keep sharing with the world what we already know: any day is a lovely day for a Guinness."

The commercial was revealed just in time for St Patrick's Day last year but is part of the Guinness ‘Lovely Day’ campaign and runs all year long.

The latest commercial was shot in New Zealand, where Momoa was filming the movie ‘Epic’.
